The school
I-TECH is a school of applied technology built on the global P-TECH model, in partnership with IBM and approved by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education. EYOOT runs it on IBM's behalf — the first school in Egypt built specifically around information technology, computer science and application development.
The curriculum is competency-based and written to international standards rather than to an exam. Five years, sixty students a year, and a graduate who arrives at work already able to do the job.
Teaching began in the 2019/2020 school year. Four cohorts have graduated since — and for three years running, the top student in the entire country came out of this school.
Day to day
Representing IBM inside the school means owning the whole of it — the teaching, the intake, the summer placements and the phone call when a parent needs answering.
Recruiting and preparing the faculty behind the IT, computer science and application development curriculum.
Selecting each incoming class from applicants holding the preparatory certificate, across Cairo governorate.
Placing students into real summer training so the classroom keeps meeting the workplace.
Continuous evaluation of students and teaching, not a single end-of-year verdict.
Direct communication with parents throughout, rather than only when something goes wrong.
A dedicated executive supervisor inside the school, so problems get solved the day they appear.
The first Egyptian school built specifically around information technology, computer science and application development.
Following IBM's international P-TECH school system, with a competency-based curriculum written to global standards.
Graduates who are qualified for local and international employers on the day they leave, not years later.
